This book belongs to Matthew Clark Age 5 from Cleveland, Ohio. Happy Birthday! We Love You. Mom and Dad
It was a bright, sunny morning in Cleveland, Ohio. Dad came rushing in, looking very excited.
"Matt, would you like to go to the Cleveland Zoo today?" asked Dad.
"Wow! I would love to go!" said Matt.
Matt invited his two special friends Tanya and Kiara to come to the zoo.
They all got into the car with Dad and set off for the Cleveland Zoo.
When they arrived at the zoo, Matt was hoping he would get to see a lion.
Matt was so excited as they approached the large green gate of the Cleveland zoo.
They stepped through the gate and bought their tickets.
Matt, Tanya and Kiara could not wait to see the animals. "Come on," said Dad, "let's see what we can find."
Once inside the zoo Matt could not believe his eyes!
Matt was amazed at how many animals could be seen at the Cleveland zoo.
He looked around and spotted some monkeys and in the distance, he could see a tall giraffe towering over a wall!
Tanya saw a little boy with a very large lollypop!
"Which animals are we going to see first?" asked Kiara.
The first enclosure that they stopped at was the monkeys.
They were so funny, hanging and swinging from the trees.
"Those monkeys are silly," laughed Kiara.
"Oh, look at the goofy faces they make!" said Tanya.
"Let's see your goofiest face!" teased Dad.
Matt, Tanya and Kiara all laughed as each of them started to make funny faces at Dad.
Matt made his way over to the next enclosure. There was a very tall wall with a large glass window. Through the window Matt could see a huge lion and a big leopard.
He was very excited. The lion let out a loud roar that made Matt, Tanya and Kiara all jump!
"I've never seen a real lion before," Matt told Dad.
"Neither have we," added Tanya and Kiara.
Next they all went to see the elephants and the hippos.
Matt could not believe how big the elephants were. They had large, bendy trunks and big floppy ears.
Matt laughed when he saw one of the hippos splashing around in the pool.
Dad pointed at one of the elephants as it started to drink lots of water.
"I wonder how much an elephant can drink at one time," said Tanya.
After watching the hippos and elephants for a while, Dad took Matt, Tanya and Kiara to see the polar bears.
"Brrr, it's cold over here, I should have worn my coat," shivered Matt. He looked over the gate and saw a bunch of snowy white bears hanging around on the ice.
"It's so cool how they blend in with the snow. Look at that penguin in the water!" said Kiara.
After spending some time watching the polar bears, Matt, Tanya and Kiara walked down a long path towards a big brown barn. On the way they passed by the silly looking monkeys and the giraffe they had seen when they first arrived at the Cleveland zoo.
Tanya saw a man with a camera taking pictures of the animals.
Dad took the three children inside the barn to see some more animals.
Matt, Kiara and Tanya stood inside the large barn and saw lots of farm animals. There were white rabbits, big brown cows, fat pink pigs, and funny looking sheep.
The barn was filled with the sounds of all the animals making noise at the same time.
Dad gave them all a bag of food so they could feed the animals.
"Shall we feed the sheep first?" asked Matt.
Dad looked at the clock. "It is getting late, nearly time for us all to go home," said Dad.
"But let's get an ice cream first."
Matt, Tanya and Kiara waved goodbye to all the animals.
"I can't wait to come back and see all of the animals again!" said Matt as he licked his ice cream cone.
Each of them smiled happily as they walked back to the car ready to go home.
