Craft and Activity Ideas

Kaboose - When we're looking for a craft idea or something to do on a rainy day, this is always the site we go to first. Their crafts are creative and they explain them well on the site so we're never left wondering "what the heck did they mean by that!?!?" Check out their helpful craft videos too. |

Disney Family Fun - Since everything Disney does is a class act, it's no surprise their Family Fun site - which supports their magazine of the same name - is full of awesome crafts, activities and recipes. They also have a section of printables which our kids love. |

Kidspot - This Australian site is a one stop shop for parents including advice, recipes, tools and of course lots and lots of kid friendly activities. Check out their "Things To Do" section for everything from crafts to things to do at home to seasonal activities. |

Crayola - If you've never visited the Crayola site because you assumed it was just a big store, now is the time to go. They have lots of fun craft and activity ideas as well as interesting online applications like their certificate maker. They also have a great selection of printable coloring pages. |

The Crafty Crow - Not only are there lots of great craft ideas at The Crafty Crow, but many are made with recycled and repurposed items which we love. Click on "Categories" to make it easier to find the type of craft or age range you're looking for. |
Educational Sites for Kids

Starfall - This is one of the best free sites we've seen for helping children learn their letters, colors, numbers and for introductory reading lessons. They also have a paid area of their site, which we subscribe to and love. |

National Geographic Kids - Talk about a site that has it all! The National Geographic Kids site is full of amazing things for children of all ages to see and do. They have crafts and science experiments (even some for young children) as well as educational areas on countries and animals. Be sure to check out their game section as well for kid appropriate games hosted by animal friends. |

Gardening With Kids - Although this is a Canadian site, it has great information on how to garden with your children that applies across North America. Everything from container gardening to creating a butterfly garden is discussed in easy to read articles that are full of tips. |

IXL - We didn't think it was possible but IXL actually makes learning math FUN! Broken down by grade starting with Pre-K, the activities are quick and simple so kids don't even realize they're learning. There is also a paid membership option that gives you access to more lessons and tracks your child's progress with reports showing how they are doing and areas where they can improve. |
Parenting Education and Resources

Scholastic for Parents - We love how Scholastic has put together great articles on all of the different areas of your child's development. They break everything down in an easy to navigate site that is full of great information and activities to help you help your child excel. |

Family Education - Offering parenting advice, children's activities, family game ideas and recipes, we love Family Education because the articles are always well written and informative. We also love how they divide their site into sections based on the age of your children making it quick and easy to find what you're looking for. |

Parenting - This is the website that supports Parenting and Baby Talk magazines. They have a good mix of product reviews and helpful parenting articles on topics that all of us parents wonder and worry about. This is also a great site to keep up to date on recent product recalls. |
